Sevilla “D” falls narrowly to Nervión in key Play-Off clash
Sevilla “D” failed to pick up points in a tightly contested and competitive match against Nervión, which was decided in the closing minutes by a penalty goal. Both teams produced a high-intensity game marked by balance, shared chances, and the importance of the play-off positions
The match, corresponding to matchday 19 of the league, pitted Sevilla “D” against Nervión in a game of great significance in the battle for play-off spots. The Sevilla side came into the match after a win against San Martín, while Nervión arrived with confidence following their victory over Guillena, a result that allowed them to take second place in the standings.
From the start, the importance of the clash was clear. Both teams appeared solid and focused, aware of what was at stake. The first-round meeting also added tension to the encounter, as Nervión had won that match despite playing the entire second half with one player fewer, securing a narrow victory in the final moments.
During the opening stages, both sides created attacking approaches but failed to produce clear shots on target. However, the clearest chance of the first half came for the home side: in the 28th minute, Fidel Morán connected with a shot that went over the crossbar.

The shot was taken by Manu Cruzado, a specialist from set pieces who had scored two free-kick goals in the previous two matches, but on this occasion the visiting goalkeeper prevented the goal with a fine save.
After the restart, the match opened up even more, with clearer chances for both teams, reflecting each side’s determination to claim victory. Just after the second half began, Parker Byas headed a cross that went inches wide of the post.
As the game progressed, Sevilla “D” kept searching for the goal. In the 76th minute, Álvaro Perea had a good opportunity to put the home side ahead, but his attempt to place the ball precisely did not find the target.
One of the most notable moments of the match came after a brilliant individual play by Manu Cruzado, who finished with a powerful shot from outside the box. The Nervión goalkeeper responded with a decisive save, pushing the ball out for a corner.
In the closing minutes, goalkeeper Mamour Sené kept Sevilla “D” in the game with two excellent saves. However, in the 89th minute Nervión took the lead after converting a penalty, making it 0–1 and sealing the final result.
