Juvenil D maintain top spot with another victory
Rafa Ortega’s side defeated CD Mairena (3-0) at the Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios to make it three wins from three matches, maintaining top spot with a perfect record and another clean sheet
The Sevilla FC Juvenil D returned to action at home after last weekend’s victory against Pablo VI. Rafa Ortega’s side entered the fixture against CD Mairena looking to build on their strong start to the season, while the visitors arrived at the third matchday without having picked up a point.
From the opening minutes, Sevilla FC took control of the game and began creating chances in front of the visitors’ goal. Pedro Marun had one of the first opportunities of the match with a shot that went narrowly wide. The Sevilla side continued to press against a well-organised CD Mairena defence, which made it difficult for the hosts to find the breakthrough thanks to their positioning and the interventions of their goalkeeper.
The Juvenil D’s persistence was rewarded shortly before half-time. Santiago Martín delivered a cross into the box and Pedro Marun got the slightest of touches on the ball, enough to catch the goalkeeper off guard and open the scoring. The teams went into the break with the score at 1-0.
After the restart, CD Mairena created their best opportunity of the match in a one-on-one situation against Isaiah Lais. The American goalkeeper produced an excellent save to prevent the equaliser and preserve Sevilla’s lead. A few minutes later, the visitors found the back of the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside.
Sevilla FC responded to the visitors’ chances and regained control of the match. In the 72nd minute, Enzo Galbarro doubled the advantage after receiving a well-timed pass from Alfonso Recio, making it 2-0.
Just six minutes later, Alfonso Recio was involved again. The midfielder met a cross from Santiago Martín and placed his finish towards the far post, leaving the goalkeeper with no chance and making it 3-0.
With this result, Juvenil D record their third consecutive victory in the league, while also keeping another clean sheet and continuing their excellent start to the season. Rafa Ortega’s side therefore remain top of the table, with a perfect record after the opening three matchdays.
