Sevilla FC D close pre-season with victory in the Charneca Memorial
Óscar Olomo’s side defeated CD Burguillos 1-3 in the IV Charneca Memorial Trophy, held on Saturday evening
Sevilla FC D brought their pre-season to a close with a victory over CD Burguillos (1-3) in the IV Charneca Memorial Trophy, held last Saturday, September 12, in memory of Francisco Charneca.
The match, which kicked off at 8:30 p.m., saw Sevilla FC D take the initiative from the opening stages, with the team looking to make an impact in attack. It did not take long for Óscar Olomo’s side to find the breakthrough, as David Castro opened the scoring after just a few minutes. The forward took advantage of a superb through ball from Álvaro Perea, who set up his teammate with a backheel to put him in an excellent position.
The second goal arrived in the 21st minute. This time, Álvaro Perea found the back of the net after connecting with a cross from the flank to double Sevilla FC D’s advantage.
With the score at 0-2, both sides had chances before the break. The clearest opportunity to extend the lead fell to David Castro, but the CD Burguillos goalkeeper produced an excellent save to keep the home side within reach.
After the restart, the home team looked to step up their attacking efforts and created a couple of opportunities during the opening stages of the second half, although neither resulted in significant danger for the Sevilla FC D goal.
Sevilla FC D continued to control the game, and the third goal arrived in the 60th minute. Sergio Domínguez completed the scoring for the visitors after finding space at the far post and converting the ball that came his way.
CD Burguillos pulled one back in the 75th minute through a free-kick scored by their number 10. The goal led to an open final stage, with both teams creating further chances, although neither side was able to find the net again.
The final whistle confirmed a 1-3 victory for Sevilla FC D, bringing their pre-season campaign to an end on a special evening marked by the IV Charneca Memorial Trophy and the memory of Francisco Charneca.
The Sevilla FC D side now enter the final stage of their preparation ahead of the start of the official season.
