GK Academy kicks off the new season with a very special visit
Sevilla FC’s GK Academy officially began its new season on September 9 with an opening ceremony attended by players, families and members of the project, before a very special surprise: a visit from Odysseas Vlachodimos during the training session
The Sevilla FC GK Academy officially began a new season on September 9 with an institutional opening ceremony held at the Ciudad Deportiva José Ramón Cisneros Palacios. The event brought together the young goalkeepers and their families, who had the opportunity to learn more about the programme and the key aspects that will shape their development throughout the season.
The opening ceremony was attended by Tomás Romero, Coordinator of the Sevilla FC Goalkeeping Department; José María Cruz, Head of the Sevilla FC Innovation Center; and Rafael Romero, third goalkeeper of the first team. Together, they welcomed all the participants and spoke to the families about the main aspects of the project.
During the event, the GK Academy, together with Be the N1, handed each goalkeeper their training kit and a pair of gloves for the new season. The families were also introduced to the training facilities, schedules, professional coaching staff and methodology that will be used throughout the different sessions.
First training session and a very special surprise
Following the official opening, it was time for the young goalkeepers to take to the pitch for their first training session of the season. The session was led by Sevilla FC academy goalkeeping professionals, following the club’s methodology and specific approach to goalkeeper development.
However, the first training session had a surprise in store. Odysseas Vlachodimos made a surprise appearance to spend some time with the GK Academy goalkeepers.
The Sevilla FC goalkeeper joined the session, trained alongside the young players and took the opportunity to share advice, experiences and lessons from his own career. It was a memorable experience for the participants, who were able to learn directly from a first-team goalkeeper.
The session concluded with a group photo of Vlachodimos alongside all the GK Academy goalkeepers, bringing a special end to a day filled with excitement and marking the beginning of a new season of training.
The Sevilla FC GK Academy continues its commitment to the specific development of goalkeepers, providing an environment based on the Sevilla FC methodology and the technical, tactical, physical and cognitive development of each player.
